K4Connect cofounder, CEO stepping aside; COO takes on top role

RALEIGH – K4Connect, a company launched in 2013 to provide improved communications tools for senior living centers and people with disabilities, is getting a new chief executive officer as cofounder and CEO Scott Moody steps aside.

Replacing him at the venture-capital backed company is Mike Weller, who has been the company’s chief operating officer.

Moody will work with Weller through a transition period and continue as a member of the company’s board.

K4Connected announced the changes Tuesday morning.

It’s been a busy year for K4Connect, having launched a new operating system and raising some $9 million in new capital.

“Over the past decade, [cofounder] Jonathan Gould and I embarked on a journey to fuse cutting-edge technology with a vision to serve and empower older adults and individuals with disabilities,” Moody said in the announcement.

“That said, while long delayed, I look forward to returning to an active ‘retirement’ and have full confidence in Mike as the CEO as we look towards our next phase of growth. Given Mike’s operational and data intelligence experience, he is the right person to further our mission as we look to better serve our senior living customers and their residents.”

Moody moved to Raleigh, intending to retire, after selling his biometrics company AuthenTec to Apple in 2012 for more than $350 million. It became the basis for Touch ID, notes TechCrunch.

Weller joined K4Connect in 2022. He has more than 20 years of experience in a variety of executive roles, including chief revenue officer at Go Global Retail and chief operating officer at Softonic.

“As I step into this role, I’m honored to build upon the legacy established by Scott, who has been dedicated to not only enhancing the lives of older adults, but the success of the company as a whole,” said Weller. “I am excited to work with the entire K4Connect team and Board of Directors as we enter our next phase of growth and innovation.”
