Epic Games economics expert earns his $1,600 an hour in Google trial, reporter says

CARY – A star witness in the Epic Gams vs. Google antitrust trial on Monday was not a top corporate executive from either company but at economist. And he put on quite a show, according to Sean Hollister of The Verge.

Stanford professor Doug Bernheim – Epic’s retained economist – drew the following praise from Hollister, who basically is provided moment-by-moment coverage of the trial taking place in federal court in San Francisco.

“I can see why Epic pays Bernheim’s firm $1,600 an hour,” Hollister wrote about Monday’s testimony.

“He might be the most collected and unshakeable witness on the stand all trial, even including Google’s Sundar Pichai. His college course earlier was educational without talking down to anyone, the jury and judge seemed to be listening with the same interest as me, and now Google’s barely getting anywhere with him — he’s anticipating where many of Google’s lines of questioning go before the attorney gets there.”

The trial continues today.
