Pioneer Tracie Collins retires, passing NBDA leadership to Brandie Bishop. Launches TC Business Solutions Academy & memoir. A legacy continues.

Tracie Collins, a pioneering force in the Birthing Industry, formally declares her retirement and the transition of the National Black Doulas Association (NBDA) to the capable leadership of Brandie Bishop.

 

As the esteemed founder of NBDA, Tracie Collins has been instrumental in creating a supportive space for individuals on their parenthood journey while empowering and educating BIPOC Birthing Professionals. Her profound commitment has made an enduring impact on the birthing community.

In a significant move, Tracie Collins entrusts the helm of NBDA to Brandie Bishop, acknowledging her embodiment of the organization’s core values. Brandie Bishop acquires NBDA for an undisclosed amount, and her ownership is effective immediately. She assumes the roles of CEO and Owner, committed to continuing the legacy and advancing the mission of supporting and uplifting BIPOC birthing professionals.

In tandem with her retirement, Tracie is delighted to announce the upcoming release of her memoir, “Special Delivery: A Black Doula’s American Journey.” This book promises insights into her extraordinary journey and the transformative impact of NBDA on the birthing landscape. Beyond literary pursuits, Tracie Collins is launching the TC Business Solutions Academy, focusing on High-Level Executive Business Development and mentoring CEOs in their business strategies. She will leverage her passion for business to mentor and guide entrepreneurs toward realizing their fullest potential.

Additionally, Tracie plans to engage in creative endeavors, high-level speaking engagements, and indulge her wanderlust by exploring the world. During this transition, Tracie will prioritize self-care, healing, and personal rejuvenation.

I hope this letter finds you in the best of health and spirits. With great humility and gratitude, I write to you as the new Owner and CEO of the National Black Doula Association. It is an honor and a privilege to contribute to the noble mission of combating black maternal mortality.

Reflecting on this momentous occasion and my ten-plus years in the birthwork space, I express gratitude to those who have shaped and supported me. I thank Jesus for saving my soul and guiding me on this incredible journey. My beloved daughter, Joy Johnson, inspires and believes in me even in moments of doubt.

To my dear tribe, including Joh’mae Moore, my remarkable grandparents Nathaniel and Joyce Bishop, Tonica Logan, Ebony Sims, Shannon McGuire-Lee, Imani Quarterman, my family, and the women of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. – your unwavering love and support have been instrumental in my growth.

As I embark on this journey within the National Black Doula Association, I dedicate my work to two amazing women, Mildred Elizabeth Bishop and Mama Lisa. Their legacies of entrepreneurship and unconditional love have profoundly influenced me.
