Letter from the Editor: Welcome Back

AWNews Editor Maki explains the recent downtime.

By Maki

AWNEWS—Welcome to AWNews! First, let me thank all of our readers for your patience while we made the move to our new content management system and implemented our new design. We ran into some unexpected issues, but we feel this is an amazing improvement. My sincerest apologies for the extended downtime. While AWNews may not be a critical web site, that length of unavailability is hardly acceptable by any standards.

On to the good news! AWNews is now powered by Drupal, an industry leader in open source content management systems. Drupal offers greater security and flexibility. Our new site has been built entirely around the CMS, resulting in the integration of the formerly-indepedent Cover page and informational pages. The change also eliminates minor errors that were occurring in our former CMS, PostNuke. Some users may notice an increase in speed while browsing pages or logging in. We hope you will find Drupal to be a refreshing change.

All user accounts should be present in the new CMS. If you have trouble logging in, please try the password help system. If you continue to have trouble logging in, send me, maki, a telegram in AW.

While we may look different, our content will remain consistent with past designs. Our Cover page will contain the same important content and links as our previous Cover design, such as This Week in AW and our weekly poll.

Over the next few weeks we will continue to revise awnews.org and introduce new features. Watch the Cover for new content. Please send us feedback if you find any problems on our web site or have suggestions for us.

If you're interested in writing for AWNews regularly, remember that your citizenship is covered by the AWNews organization while you work with us. All we expect from you is one article per month or more. You may write in any style you like about any topic - start a series or opinion column, write Road Trips, or review events! It's up to you. Maki is the Editor of AWNews. He owns the Support AW Organization.

Very nice work! Looks great and smooth. :D

Uhh

Um, I can't find those listing of headlines, especially those archived from past. I prefer browsing over searching. Where may I go for that? Thanks.

Respectfully Yours,
Legion

P.S. Good work on the new look and feel of this website, btw! Great work as always, chief! :D
