Monotype and Canva Celebrate Over 1 Billion Designs Created Using Monotype Library

Monotype Imaging Inc., a global leader in type design and technology, and Canva, the all-in-one visual communication platform, are celebrating over 1 billion designs created using fonts from Monotype and its foundry partners. This achievement highlights the significance of Monotype and Canva’s partnership, announced in 2023, and the power of typography to enhance design and spark creativity.

The collaboration enables millions of designers and non-designers alike to create stunning visual content using more than 1,800 curated typefaces from the Monotype library from Monotype and foundry partners from around the globe. Font software available on the platform from the Monotype library includes classic font families like Sabon® and Helvetica® and new standards like Gotham® and Recoleta.

“We’re incredibly proud of this milestone,” said Charles Nix, Senior Executive Creative Director at Monotype. “Over one billion designs created is proof positive that quality typefaces are integral to the Canva users’ creative processes. The Canva x Monotype collaboration underscores the importance of quality fonts in achieving design excellence.”

Silvia Oviedo, SVP and Head of Content and Discovery at Canva shared: “Partnering with Monotype has opened up the world’s most iconic typefaces to our community of professionals and creators, helping them elevate their work to new heights. This milestone shows just how powerful the combination of premium typography and accessible design can be. We can’t wait to see more amazing work come from our shared community of creators.”

Monotype’s partner foundries are equally delighted with the Canva partnership.

“Seeing my fonts in Canva’s library gets me fired up, and here’s why: They’re blazing a different trail for how people discover and work with fonts. Canva’s cracking open the door for the next generation of designers to work with professional fonts from day one. As typeface designers, we want our fonts to get used, and this is breaking down traditional barriers between my fonts and new designers,” said Raymond Larabie, Founder of Typodermic Fonts.

“It’s an exciting moment when some of the best type designers collaborate with the best online design platform. Something incredible is bound to happen. We are delighted that our fonts are available on the Canva platform, giving Canva users the opportunity to take their projects to the next level,” Luciano Vergara, Co-Founder of Latinotype.

“Joining Canva’s platform with Loew Next Arabic has opened exciting opportunities for our typeface to reach a global audience. Canva’s easy-to-use design tools allow users worldwide access, which can play a vital role in creating designs that communicate across cultures and languages. This collaboration aligns perfectly with our mission to deliver accessible, high-quality multi-script typefaces that enhance creativity and inclusivity,” said Jonathan Hill, Founder of The Northern Block.

Last May, Canva announced the launch of its Canva Enterprise offering, making it easier for large global teams that span human resources, sales, marketing, and creative teams to solve design challenges seamlessly. Premium typography helps to enable this effort, allowing brands to express their visual identities consistently across channels and to communicate with customers in a myriad of languages.
