A courageous young girl named Anissa embarked on a path that few toddlers could comprehend in a world full of promise and change. At a tender age of four she was losing her hair. She lost about two-thirds of her hair as she had a condition called Alopecia Universalis. Anissa felt like a puzzle with missing pieces after going from having many lovely curly locks to nearly none; she sensed something crucial was missing.

Guided by love and determination, Anissa’s devoted grandmother and mother set out on a mission to restore joy and wanted to help. They scoured through various avenues, from exploring medical insurance options to sifting through an array of wig choices. Yet, every attempt fell short—wigs were bulky, uncomfortable, and often demanding adhesive solutions that gave rise to concern. Anissa’s mother hesitated to apply these adhesives to her delicate scalp. 

Then something amazing happened. They contacted Butterflies BBI, a 501(c)(3) organization that helps girls like Anissa find perfect wigs.  Butterflies BBI connected with Hairline Illusions, a company known for making really special wigs. They listened to Anissa’s story and wanted to help. Hairline Illusions master wig maker Egypt Lawson created a realistic 3D wig just for Anissa.

But the magic didn’t stop there. Anissa’s new hairpiece was so light and comfortable that it didn’t need any glue to stay in place.  When Anissa wore her new wig, it was like a dream come true. She felt free to dance and play without worrying about her hair. 

After a few years, something truly incredible happened—Anissa’s own hair started growing back. It was like a reward for being strong and never giving up.

 

Anissa’s story exemplifies how people can come together to make amazing things happen. With the support of Butterflies BBI and Hairline Illusions, Anissa’s journey from sadness to confidence was like a real-life fairy tale. And the kindness didn’t end there.
