Faith, Wisdom, and Verse: Shirley Weiglein’s Devotional Reimagines Scripture

In “My Amazing Journey Through the Bible: The Pentateuch, The Historical Books, and The Wisdom Books in Poetry,” Shirley Weiglein invites readers into a heartfelt and lyrical encounter with the Word of God. Drawing upon decades of spiritual growth, professional teaching, and personal devotion, Weiglein transforms Scripture into inspired poetry that encourages believers to deepen their relationship with God—one chapter at a time.

Written with reverence and a deep love for biblical truth, the book poetically retells key stories from the Pentateuch, the Historical Books, and the Wisdom Books of the Old Testament. With each verse, readers are led to reflect on familiar figures such as Moses, Ruth, David and Solomon through a new lens of grace, rhythm, and faith.

More than a poetic retelling, this work functions as a devotional companion that challenges readers to walk alongside Scripture and rediscover its timeless relevance. As Weiglein shares in her introduction, her poems are “adapted from my own study of the Life Application Study Bible” and written to encourage readers to read the Bible daily along with the book as a parallel journey into deeper understanding.

A standout feature of this devotional is its accessibility. Whether used for personal quiet time, Bible study groups, or as a faith-based gift, the collection resonates with readers across generations. The recurring themes of obedience, redemption, and praise are woven into poems that are both theologically sound and emotionally engaging. A reader favorite, for instance, is the line that highlights the loyalty and faith of Ruth: “Naomi and Ruth is a beautiful story of women who gave God all the glory.”
