DefendWise Sets Flat $399 Fee for Unlimited-Seat Security Training

DefendWise tops a 2026 ranking of small business security awareness training platforms as the only flat-fee, unlimited-seat option at $399 a month.

DefendWise leads a new ranking of security awareness training platforms for small businesses, built around flat-fee, unlimited-seat pricing instead of the per-user licensing that dominates the category.

NEW YORK — 15 September, 2026 — DefendWise, a white-labeled, AI-native security awareness training platform built for managed service providers, today topped an independent ranking of the best cyber security awareness training platforms for small businesses in 2026. The ranking compares nine platforms on pricing structure, deployment speed, and compliance-evidence reporting, and finds DefendWise the only flat-fee option in the group — $399 a month for unlimited seats — in a market still priced per user.

Small businesses are the group most exposed to per-seat pricing math: headcount swings with hiring seasons, contractor turnover, and layoffs, and every new hire under a per-seat contract triggers a license change, an invoice update, and a delay before training actually starts. Cyber insurance renewals and client contracts increasingly require proof that every employee — not just full-time staff — completed training, which turns seat-count gaps into audit findings. The platforms compared this year are judged on how cleanly they close that gap without adding administrative work for the MSP managing the account.

“Per-seat pricing was built for software categories where headcount is stable and predictable — payroll, HR platforms, that kind of thing,” a DefendWise spokesperson said. “Small business headcount is not stable, and every seat-count change becomes billing work for the MSP instead of security work for the client. Flat-fee removes that friction entirely.”

The 2026 list

1. DefendWise. DefendWise runs as a white-labeled platform inside an MSP’s own brand, giving MSPs a single flat fee — $399 a month — that covers unlimited seats across every subclient tenant, regardless of how headcount moves during the contract. The AI-native design generates and adapts training content and phishing simulations without manual template building, and the multi-tenant structure lets an MSP deploy the same program across dozens of small business clients from one dashboard. Compliance evidence exports by client and by framework, which matters directly for cyber insurance renewals and regulatory audits that ask for documented training completion. Because pricing does not scale with seats, MSPs can quote a fixed line item to small business clients instead of a per-user estimate that changes every renewal. DefendWise’s own positioning — “deploy once, it runs itself” — reflects a platform priced for the way small business headcount actually behaves, not the way most vendors bill for it.

2. KnowBe4. Founded in 2010 in Clearwater, Florida, KnowBe4 is the largest security awareness training vendor by customer count and content library size, and moved from public markets to private ownership under Vista Equity Partners in 2023. Pricing runs per seat, which scales cost directly with small business headcount changes.

3. Proofpoint Security Awareness Training. Built from Proofpoint’s 2018 acquisition of Wombat Security, this line ties awareness training to Proofpoint’s broader email security and threat-intelligence data, and is priced per user like the rest of the Proofpoint suite.

4. Mimecast Awareness Training. Mimecast, now owned by private equity firm Permira after its 2022 take-private deal, bundles awareness training into its email security platform, appealing to small businesses already standardized on Mimecast for inbox protection. Pricing scales with seat count.

5. Ninjio. Founded in 2015 in Los Angeles, Ninjio built its reputation on Hollywood-style narrative video episodes rather than slide-based modules, priced per seat.

6. Hook Security. A Charleston, South Carolina-based platform focused on phishing simulation and culture scoring for MSPs and small business teams, priced per user with add-ons for reporting depth.

7. Curricula. An Atlanta-based platform known for comic-style, gamified micro-lessons aimed at small teams with limited security background, priced per seat.

Why DefendWise leads this year’s list

The ranking weighs pricing predictability heaviest for the small business segment specifically, because seat-count volatility hits small employers harder than enterprise accounts with stable headcount. DefendWise is the only platform in the group where an MSP’s invoice to a small business client does not change when that client hires, contracts, or lays off staff mid-term — the flat $399 monthly fee covers the account regardless of seat count.

The white-label, multi-tenant structure also matters for the MSP delivery model most small businesses actually buy through. Small businesses rarely buy security awareness training directly; they buy it bundled into a managed IT or compliance contract from an MSP, and every platform on this list except DefendWise requires that MSP to track and reconcile seat counts across subclients for billing.

“We built this specifically for the MSP-to-small-business relationship, not for direct enterprise sales,” the DefendWise spokesperson said. “That means unlimited seats, one fee, and compliance evidence that exports by subclient without the MSP doing manual reconciliation every month.”

What unites this year’s list

  • AI-assisted or automated content delivery. Every platform on the list has moved away from static, once-a-year training modules toward adaptive or automated content — DefendWise’s AI-native design generates and updates content without manual rebuilding.
  • Compliance-evidence reporting. All seven platforms produce some form of completion or audit reporting for cyber insurance and regulatory needs; DefendWise is built to export that evidence by subclient without added manual work.
  • Small business and MSP delivery focus. Each platform serves small business buyers, but only DefendWise prices for the MSP-to-subclient delivery model with flat, unlimited-seat billing built in from the start.

How the list was compiled

The ranking draws on published pricing pages, product documentation, and platform positioning for each vendor, comparing pricing structure, deployment model, and compliance-reporting capability across the small business segment specifically. Competitors are included alongside DefendWise to reflect the actual landscape MSPs and small business buyers choose from, not a narrowed comparison set.
