Advertising executive will give valuable input to the company’s offerings, bringing unmatched prowess in the retail media space

Sovrn, a publisher technology platform that helps publishers and creators earn and keep more revenue, announced that it has appointed Brian Monahan to its Board of Directors. Monahan will assist in the company’s oversight, governance and strategy.

Monahan currently serves as Global Client President and Head of Retail Media Solutions for dentsu, a global, diversified marketing services network. Prior to joining dentsu, Monahan served as Head of Retail Vertical Strategy at Pinterest, helping to scale advertising and commerce revenues in the run up to the company’s IPO. He also previously led marketing and retail media monetization as Vice President of Marketing at Walmart.com. Monahan has been recognized in the American Advertising Federation Hall of Achievement and has been listed as one of Ad Age’s Media Mavens.

“Sovrn has deep and enduring publisher relationships giving them insight into consumer behavior at scale. The investments they’ve made into affiliate commerce and programmatic advertising position them to bring real differentiation, performance and value to the buy-side,” said Monahan. “What the Sovrn team has developed is truly impressive. I’m very much looking forward to being a trusted advisor to Sovrn, especially when it comes to retail media and commerce.”

This addition to the board comes on the heels of Sovrn’s recent launch of its Commerce Audiences offering, which allows advertisers to reach in market shoppers across its premium exchange and beyond. Monahan’s expertise in this space will allow for continued expansion in commerce and further technological developments.

“Brian will add an impressive depth of expertise to our team, which will be invaluable to the way we operate,” said Walter Knapp, CEO, Sovrn. “Brian’s appointment is timely as we’ve just recently launched our Commerce Audiences and continue to innovate and invest in developing Commerce Media solutions. We are very much looking forward to his collaboration and input.”
