Adobe agrees to pay $3M to settle anti-kickback allegations with US Government

Digital-media and analytics firm Adobe Inc. has agreed to pay $3 million to settle allegations that it violated the Anti-Kickback Act and made payments to companies that had a contractual or other relationship with the US government to influence federal purchases of its software, according to a press release from the US Department of Justice (DOJ) shared on Thursday.

The release stated that Adobe allegedly paid the companies a percentage of the purchase price of the software between January 2011 and December 2020, which constituted prohibited kickbacks, resulting in false claims for payment submitted to federal agencies.

The settlement includes the resolution of claims brought under the whistleblower provisions of the False Claims Act by former Adobe managers, who will receive $555,000 as part of the deal.

Adobe stated that it cooperated with the DOJ’s investigation and is pleased to have the matter behind it, according to a statement from Adobe shared by MarketWatch.
