Lucky, a sniffer dog from the Zhejiang Rescue Team of Ramunion, an NGO from Hangzhou, East China’s Zhejiang province, located a man with vital signs in Turkiye at around 3 pm on Feb 10 local time.

After confirming the information, the Chinese rescue team handed over the task to the Turkish AKUT Rescue Team, and the injured was rescued at around 8 pm.

The man was the ninth survivor to be discovered by the team.

The Zhejiang Rescue Team of Ramunion, consisting of seven rescuers and a sniffer dog, pushed into Antakya city of Hatay Province in southern Turkiye that day, a city hit hard by the earthquake.

A day ago on Feb 9, the team worked with Turkish soldiers and local rescuers to free five survivors, including three children, from a heavily damaged building at around 1:30 pm local time in Iskenderun, a port city in southern Hatay province.

The team was the first Chinese NGO to go to Turkiye and arrived at Adana airport at 1:30 pm on Feb 8. They immediately headed to Iskenderun after teaming up with a nine-member local logistics support team.

The Ramunion workers threw themselves into the rescue operation despite temperatures dropping to -8 C, according to the NGO.
